Ingredients

350g Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured fillet beef steak

1 small onion

1 medium pepper

100g mangetout

2 x 15ml (2 tbsp) teriyaki sauce

2 x 5ml (2 tsp) sunflower oil

2 x 5ml (2 tsp) reduced salt soy sauce

Equipment

Chopping boards, knives, shallow dish, measuring spoons, wooden skewers, tongs, grill pan, oven gloves, non-stick frying pan or wok, mixing spoon.

Method

  1.      Pre-heat the grill to medium-hot
  2.      Prepare the vegetables:
  •      Peel, remove the top and bottom of the onion. Cut into quarters and separate into layers;
  •      Remove the stalk and seeds from the pepper and slice into thin strips;
  •      Trim the mangetout.
  1.      On a separate chopping board, slice the steaks into thin strips.  Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw meat.
  2.      Place the steak and onions in a shallow dish and pour over the teriyaki sauce.  Remember to thoroughly wash your hands after handling raw meat.
  3.      Leave to marinate for 30 minutes.
  4.      While the steak and onions are marinating, soak the wooden skewers in cold water.
  5.      Remove the steak from the marinade.
  6.      Carefully thread the steak strips onto the skewers and place on the grill pan.  Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw meat.
  7.      Grill the steak skewers for 8 minutes, turning after 4 minutes.
  8.      While the steak skewers are cooking, heat the sunflower oil in a non-stick frying pan or wok.
  9.      Add the onion, pepper and mangetout to the pan and cook for 3 minutes.
  10.      Add the soy sauce and stir well.
  11.      Remove the steak skewers from the grill and serve on top of the vegetables.
