THE region’s biggest agricultural event of the year is fast approaching, and this year the Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC) is once again offering Key Stage 2 pupils (P5-P7) the chance to win an unforgettable day out at the Balmoral Show.
Four winning classes will explore the journey of beef and lamb from farm to fork, discover how agriculture shapes our communities, and get a firsthand look at the range of opportunities in Northern Ireland’s agri-food sector.
Explaining how to enter, LMC education and consumer promotions manager Emma Brownlee said: “The competition is open to all Key Stage 2 classes across Northern Ireland. To enter, classes simply need to create a short 30-second video explaining why they would like to win. Videos should be uploaded to our website, lmceducation.org.uk, by 5pm on Tuesday 31st March. Entries will be reviewed by an LMC panel, with winning classes notified by email. Winners will receive transport and tickets to the show.”
The competition forms part of the Livestock and Meat Commission’s wider education programme, which is designed to educate, engage and inform the consumers of tomorrow.
Having evolved over almost 30 years, the programme now provides support and engagement across all stages of education, from foundation age pupils through to further and higher education students. On behalf of its levy payers, LMC remains committed to expanding meaningful engagement with this sector, helping to foster valuable interest, understanding and respect for Northern Ireland’s beef and sheep sector.
