2 x 10oz Northern Ireland Farm Quality Assured sirloin steaks

Green beans

1 garlic clove

1 x 5ml (1 tsp) oil

A small pinch of dried chilli flakes


1 large garlic clove

1 inch piece of fresh ginger

1 lime

100ml Teriyaki sauce

A small pinch of dried chilli flakes


Chopping board, garlic crusher, mixing bowl, mixing spoon, peeler, grater, juicer, cling film, 2 non-stick frying pans, tongs, baking tray, oven gloves, saucepan, colander.


  1.      Pre heat the oven to 200oC/Gas mark 6.
  2.      Prepare the marinade:
  •      Peel and crush the garlic;
  •      Peel and grate the ginger;
  •      Juice the lime;
  •      Place the garlic, ginger and lime in a bowl, add the teriyaki sauce and chilli flakes and mix well.
  1.      Place the steaks into the marinade, making sure the steaks are well coated. Cover the bowl with cling film and place in the fridge to marinate for 2 hours. 
  2.      Heat a non-stick frying pan and fry the steaks for 1 minute on each side to seal.
  3.      Remove the steaks from the pan and place on a baking tray.
  4.      Add the marinade to the frying pan and bring to the boil, simmer for 2 minutes.
  5.      Pour the marinade over the steaks and cook for 8-10 minutes in the oven.
  6.      While the steaks are cooking, cook the green beans in boiling water for 1 minute then drain.
  7.      Peel and crush the garlic.
  8.      Heat the oil in a separate frying pan and add the garlic, green beans and chilli flakes and cook for 3 minutes.
  9.      Remove the steaks from the oven and leave to rest for 2 minutes.
  10.      Slice the steaks and serve on top of the green beans with the sauce.
